Reid Horse & Cattle Co. operations are based in Plumas County, California. Plumas County is comprised of over 85% public lands, with most being National Forest.  Our terrain ranges from beautiful meadows to high alpine granite peaks. Our local area is rich in gold rush and logging history.

We operate our horse adventures from two locations: Graeagle Stables located on Hwy 89 in Graeagle and the Gold Lake Stables located in the Gold Lakes Recreation Area.  Plumas County is an hour and a half from the Reno-Lake Tahoe airport and two and a half hours from Sacramento.

Pack Rides

A horse packing trip is one of the oldest forms of transporting folks and their gear to remote mountain hideaways, and we guarantee

it's also the most fun! We feature four basic types of pack trips, but can arrange almost any trip you might want. Our horses cover about twelve miles daily allowing you plenty of time for fishing, relaxing around the campfire or just enjoying the mountains.  Pack trips originate from our Gold Lake Pack Station. Trips can be scheduled from the end of July through September, weather permitting.

Youth Horsemanship Programs

We offer numerous programs to teach young people about working with horses.  We have expert staff who work exclusively with children to teach them horsemanship knowledge and skills.

Horseback Riding with a View

Our expert wrangler will guide you on rides to nearby lakes and through pine forests. There are miles of unfenced trails to explore. Trail rides are offered as one hour and one and half hour at Graeagle Stables in downtown Graeagle and as one hour, two and a half hour, half-day and all day adventures at Gold Lake Pack Station & Stables up Gold Lake Highway.

Our longer trail rides can cover more ground allowing for spectacular views of the mountain tops.  Abundant wildflowers and pristine lakes hidden in the Sierra Nevada’s. The 2-12 hour ride passes 5 different lakes.  The Half Day rides will show you 13 different lakes and the All Day Adventure can see as many as 20 different lakes before returning to the stables.
